If you’re no longer using your Comcast account and want to close it down, follow these steps:
1. Call customer service at 1-800-XFINITY and tell them you want to cancel your account.
2. They’ll ask for your account number and other information to verify that you are the account holder.
3. Once they’ve verified your identity, they’ll start the process of closing your account.
Step #1: Find your serial number
If you’re like most people, you probably don’t know where your Comcast serial number is. It’s not something that’s easily accessible, and it’s not something that you use on a daily basis.
However, it is important to know where it is for when you need to cancel your account. Here’s how to find it
1) Go to the My Account tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page
2) Select Manage My Home Services from the drop-down menu
3) Click Change or Close My Service under TV, Internet, Phone & Voice
4) Select Close my account from the drop-down menu
Step #2: Email Technical Support
If you’re having trouble deleting your account, the next best step is to email Comcast’s technical support. Include your full name, address, and account number in the email so they can locate your account.
Be clear in your request to delete the account and include any relevant information that will help them process your request. If you have a phone number or secondary email associated with your account, be sure to include that as well.
Step #3: Follow Up
Now that you’ve called Comcast and asked to have your account deleted, you’ll want to follow up with a written request.
This will help ensure that your account is actually closed and you’re no longer being charged. Send the letter via certified mail or deliver it in person.
Track the Status of Your Request: Follow up after five business days (excluding weekends) to see if your account has been cancelled or not.
You can also call the number on the back of your cable bill if you don’t hear anything within this time frame.
Step #4: Confirm Deletion
Once you have logged in, you will be taken to your account overview page. On this page, you will see a list of options on the left-hand side.
Scroll down until you see the option that says Delete Account. Click on this. You will be taken to a new page that asks you to confirm your decision.
Read through the information and then click on the Delete My Account button at the bottom. You will receive one final message asking you to confirm again.
