International students who wish to continue their Graduate and Undergraduate studies at the University of Houston Victoria can apply for the International Programs Office Scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025.
The University of Houston Victoria will contribute funding for the education of candidates in the United States.
Requirements to Apply for Scholarship:
In order to be considered for this scholarship, all the following requirements have to be fulfilled by the candidates:
Admission to the University, they’re needed to be F-1/J-1 international students before the commencement of the award semester, they’re needed to be listed as international college man or graduate students at UHV, and self-paying and sponsored J-1 students are eligible to receive the scholarship.
1. Admitted student to UHV
2. At the time of award the student must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits at UHV for undergraduate students, 9 credits for graduate students. Students must enroll full-time for the full academic year (Fall and Spring).
3. Returning/or current students must have two semesters remaining to graduate (semester receiving the scholarship cannot be the final semester)
4. Returning/Current students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for undergraduate students and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for graduate students.
5. Approval for volunteer opportunities must be approved in advance. If applicable all spring scholarship recipients must re-apply for the fall merit scholarship before the deadline (see below).
6. International students or students on other non-immigrant visa status
i. F-1 and J-1 students must be on the relevant visa status on or before the state date of their immigration document
ii. F-1 and J-1 students must attend mandatory International Student orientation at Victoria or Katy
iii. All non-immigrant status students must be on good academic and immigration status
7. Have a demonstrated record of academic achievement.
8. Complete BOTH the scholarship application forms
> First submit the online UHV General Scholarship Application. (When you complete this application, it may say the deadline passed. Do not worry about this, just keep completing the application. We need you to complete this application as well regardless of the deadline).
> Sign in using your UHV username and password.
> Second submit International Student Merit Scholarship Application. Please note, you will need to attach the necessary application requirements. Once you hit submit the application, along with the uploaded attachments will be sent to the International Programs Office automatically.
> Both the above mentioned applications MUST be completed in order for your scholarship application to be eligible for review .

Students must be admitted to UHV. Scholarship application will not be reviewed for those with incomplete admissions or non-admitted students.
Current and Returning Students
All conditions and requirements applies to current/ returning students at UHV. Current/Returning students must ensure to have two semesters remaining to complete their degree program.
Maintaining the International Merit Scholarship
> Recipients must maintain full-time status.
> Must maintain satisfactory academic and immigration status during the awarding semester/ year.
> Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduate students throughout the duration of the scholarship.
> Contribute 10 volunteer hours assisting International Programs in hosting events such as International Education Week, International Sash Ceremony and International Festival during fall, spring and summer semesters.
> International students on F-1 and J-1 status
New international students must attend mandatory orientation
> Scholarship recipient must pay all outstanding university bills on or before the due dates.
> Recipients continuing from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree program must reapply for the scholarship.
> International Merit Scholarship is not guaranteed every year. Students must reapply on or before the deadline.
Students who are NOT Eligible:
> Graduate students receiving a graduate assistantship or tuition scholarship
> UHV Athletes receiving Athletics Scholarships
> International Students receiving International Student Cultural Scholarship
> Students receiving any other UHV tuition scholarship waivers
> Students receiving any other UHV competitive scholarships
> Students receiving Texas resident tuition fees
> Students enrolled part time at UHV and part time at another institution in Texas
> Failing to maintain academic and immigration status during the awarding year.
International Programs Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Requirements to receive International Programs Scholarship are as follows
> Admitted student at UHV
> Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate
> Fulltime enrolled student at UHV (concurrent enrollment will not apply, students must be registered for full-time courses at UHV)
Additional requirements for international students on F-1 and J-1 visa holders:
> Students must be an F-1/J-1 international student before the start of the awarding semester.
> Students must be registered as undergraduate or graduate international students at UHV.
> J-1 Self-paying and Sponsored students are eligible to receive the scholarship.
> Change of Status (COS) students are eligible if the change of status to F-1 or J-1 is approved on or before the date listed on their immigration document (I-20/DS2019).
> All scholarship recipients must maintain 10 International Programs volunteer hours each semester

University of Houston Victoria International Student Cultural Scholarship
International Student Cultural Scholarship (ISCS) is open to all new and returning F-1 and J-1 international students. The International Student Cultural Scholarship is awarded automatically to the new students during their first semester at UHV.
If students wish to receive the scholarship beyond the first semester, students must maintain the International Student Cultural Scholarship (ISCS) requirements listed below. The scholarship covers $3000 per year ($1500 per semester, fall and spring semester). Scholarship only applies to the out-of-state tuition and fees.
Additional fees and costs of attendance are not included in this scholarship. The scholarship award can only be used for study at UHV. The scholarship award is available for:
> A maximum of nine semesters (4 years) for undergraduate international students meeting the eligibility requirements listed below.
> A maximum of five semesters (2 years) for graduate international students meeting the eligibility requirements listed below.
Eligibility Requirements
All international students must meet the following requirements to be eligible to receive the International Student Cultural Scholarship (ISCS)
> New F-1/J-1 international students must be admitted to UHV before the scholarship is awarded. Once the student is admitted, the scholarship amount will be listed in the student’s immigration document I-20
> F-1/J-1 students must be registered fulltime (concurrent enrollment will not apply, students must be registered for fulltime courses at UHV)
> U.S. transfer international students must be in good immigration status prior to their transfer to UHV
> All new international students must attend the mandatory international student orientation (Late attendees will not be awarded the scholarship)
> Scholarship recipient must pay all outstanding university bills on or before the due dates.
> No application necessary, students will be awarded the scholarship automatically during their first semester. If a student fails to maintain the scholarship requirements, students must submit the Scholarship Appeal to the International Programs Office. The International Programs Scholarship Committee will review the appeals and make a decision.
